Located in one of Istanbul’s most refined districts, Nişantaşı, the clinic of Specialist Dr. Semra Yavuz was brought to life through the interior design and implementation by Babar Mimarlık Sanat Ofisi. This distinctive space, carrying an urban, timeless, and tranquil character, offers an atmosphere nourished by simplicity and enriched with refined details.
Spanning 210 m², the project blends functionality with aesthetic sensitivity, offering a contemporary interpretation of healthcare design standards. From the moment one enters the clinic, a refined simplicity is felt—an interior world where a neutral color palette is balanced with natural textures. The design aims to create a space that does not overwhelm the user, yet powerfully reflects a strong professional identity.
Every detail—from floor to ceiling—was approached with a focus on client comfort. All furniture pieces were custom-designed and produced by Babar Mimarlık specifically for the space. The clinic offers more than just an aesthetic experience; it presents a soothing atmosphere that appeals to the senses. One of the strongest elements completing this ambiance is the harmony between art and interior design—contemporary paintings, bespoke objects, and emotionally resonant photographs enrich the character of the space, making every corner unique and meaningful.
In the selection of materials, durable and natural surfaces were favored to bring warmth to the space, while wooden details harmonize with the calming tones of beige and stone. Ceiling light lines and recessed lighting used in specific areas of the clinic lend the interior a distinct identity both by day and night. Every detail—enhanced with custom-made furniture—was meticulously considered to ensure both ease of use and visual cohesion.
The matte-finished travertine ceramic tiles used on the floor add natural warmth to the space while also standing out with their elegance. Travertine wall claddings maintain visual continuity, while select areas feature Italian painting techniques that introduce soft transitions and a sophisticated touch. The elegance of natural stone, interpreted through artisanal craftsmanship, brings both tactile richness and visual flow to the interior. Thanks to this refined combination of materials, a minimalist yet striking atmosphere is achieved throughout the clinic.
The lighting elements used in the clinic, with their organic forms, add a modern and artistic character to the space. These uniquely shaped pendant fixtures were designed in harmony with the overall architectural language, enriching the atmosphere with smooth transitions. The lighting scheme includes both fixed general lighting solutions and focused light sources in specific areas. Additionally, the controlled use of natural light throughout the interior brings a dynamic liveliness to the space during the day. One of the most striking aspects of the project is the dialogue between interior design and art. Spaces were thoughtfully defined for artworks and objects aligned with the clinic’s modern aesthetic, creating an environment that encourages mental relaxation for its users.
Muhammed Babar summarizes the process with words that reflect the architectural spirit of the clinic as follows:
“The goal of this project was to create a serene yet striking world, far from the feel of a conventional clinic. While clinical design involves many technical details, it also needs to be a space that nurtures the soul and makes people feel good. This is precisely where the idea of timelessness comes into play.
In line with this vision, all materials, forms, and textures were carefully selected to create a harmonious balance both visually and sensorially. The natural appeal of travertine surfaces meets the soft transitions of Italian paint techniques, while every detail reflects a sense of measured yet refined elegance.
The same approach was adopted in the selection of accessories. We aimed to enhance the sense of life in the space with pieces that harmonize with the overall design language yet maintain their own unique presence. Each object was considered not merely as decoration, but as an element that brings soul to the space. Because in our view, what makes a space truly special is not just the colors used, but how thoughtfully and meticulously the details are composed.
The resulting space is not only functional, but also full of character—livable and inspiring. For us, true success is when a space makes you feel as if time has slowed down the moment you walk in.”
